Yes of course the number of mechanics far outnumber the number of mechanical engineers designing automobile systems. Therefore there are many more mechanics jobs than automotive engineering jobs. If you want to be a mechanic, learn how to use the tools mechanics use. If you want to be an engineer (actual data scientist) then learn the mathematics. Engineers make more than mechanics, but there is a reason for that - it requires more intellectual horsepower.

Hey, Mike! It has been 5 months since i got my first job as a data analyst (thanks to you). The problem is though, i don't write the underlying code for the reports, i simply drag and drop all the needed data elements from the existing data model. All sql i do is simple 1-5 line queries in order to understand what is stored in the tables. All the joins, unions and so on i do in the data visualization interface without using sql. Was wondering, how bad is it? I still can write select statements in my free time as company doesn't have any problem with it. What about the constructivist learning method? I have personally always been hardwired to have the need to understand everything, like in a big internal flowchart that only keeps growing; if there's an isolated piece of information I learn, I immediately try connecting it with my understanding by constructing an idea of what I think the information is based on my knowledge/understanding and then I adjust that understanding/knowledge as needed, back to the flowchart as far up as it must go, even if I need to learn more to do so. I seem to learn at incredible depths, but it's very time consuming. Learning through memorization seems useful, but it causes disengagement for me. The third idea is a great way to reinforce understanding, or perceived understanding.

I think eventually, IT will start setting up cloud environments that hosts open-sourced models. GCP, AWS, and Azure already have these kinds of things where it becomes pretty easy to deploy an LLM service, and workers can consume the LLM easily in a web-app. All the data that gets saved is owned by the company as a result. I use ChatGPT as a developer to sketch out an outline of a project I just started working on, or to create a template for documentation. It's good for a rough draft, but I would never trust it, like you said, with any actual details about what I'm working on, that's all proprietary. One time I asked about an LLM I could use that wasn't hosted through the large AI providers websites (DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic), and essentially just got a blank stare. I'd focus on become a data engineer. It's a much more realistic path. Then become a MLE after you have all the CI/CD stuff down. Actually, I'd just become a data engineer,

No, it's not possible. And I guarantee Mike doesn't care about AGI. Neither should you. Mike cares about the real-world and making coin; not science fiction fantasies.

I’ve decided not to go with a degree, but I have the privilege of working >3 years in my father’s company as a marketing/BI Analyst, do you think I am safe with the certs only?

@ I will try my hardest, I’ve also wondered if I can bypass filters by briefly mentioning why I pursued certs over my BA on my CV, could this work? Is the word BA the only thing that triggers?

I don't know how they are written. I've actually never seen the code. My guess is they are simple keyword lookups.

Nah mate, in Europe you’d need both! I personally would always go for the candidate with education, so long as they show enough practical skill. Otherwise, that deflates the value of education, which is not right! Furthermore, as someone coming from a family with a tradition in education e.g. my grandparents, my parents, my cousins, my children will be held to the same standards etc are educated, meaning that they hold one or more degrees (I personally hold a BSc in business management and MSc in Computing and Technology. I use to be a manager and analyst, but I also do programming on the side as I’m bored of 9-5 and all that office reality. ) I think that this shouldn’t be allowed. Or otherwise this way, the order is getting destroyed, and everything is turning in chaos. This is the reason why the whole western world is falling apart, and everything going wrong!
